About the event
On Wednesday, May 14, the Center for Humanistic Change (CHC), in partnership with Lehigh County Drug and Alcohol, will host a free screening of the documentary Recovery City at the Civic Theatre of Allentown. This powerful film follows four women in Worcester, Massachusetts, as they navigate addiction recovery while raising children.
The event will feature a community resource fair with local organizations dedicated to supporting women and families in recovery, and a post-screening Q&A with director Lisa Olivieri. Attendees will also receive free Narcan kits as part of overdose prevention efforts.
This screening serves as a lead-in to a forthcoming recovery housing initiative for pregnant women and mothers overcoming opioid use, led by Lehigh County in collaboration with Westminster Homes of the Lehigh Valley and the Journeys Program.
